I offer online and in-person lessons in a variety of styles for all ages. My aim is to provide well structured, fun and engaging lessons for all students whether they are following a graded exam based route or more informal learning. With 25 years experience teaching from primary school age children to those who want to pick up the guitar in retirement, I have the skills and knowledge to deliver the best bespoke lessons for you.
I have been interested in studying different approaches to playing the instrument during my career. In the field of acoustic guitar I started with folk, blues and ragtime (with becoming BBC young traditional musician finalist back in 1992!), and later I studied classical guitar and became qualified with the ABRSM teaching diploma. With the electric guitar I have taken the rock and contemporary exam route with RGT@LCM, but my specialism is with jazz. My teaching also includes theory lessons and preparation for exams with the Rockschool and Trinity boards.
